Lee,

There is another way to furl the main without heading into the wind.  If
your jib is set okay, head up as high as you can point on the jib.  Slack
off the mainsheet until the boom is into the wind.  You should now have
pressure only on the Jib and be able to furl in the main as it will be
slack.  Give it a try next time you are out and the winds are light.
