[Rhodes22-list] to Leo and any other new, or planning-to-be, Rhodes owners

OK that is great.

Now suppose that I find a seller that is unwilling to purchase a certificate
before the sale. Is it an option for me to submit a copy of the bill of
sale and purchase the certificate after I take possession of the boat?

Second question. In the event that I decide not to purchase a certificate,
I am assuming that posts on this forum for repair advice etc would NOT be
viewed as attempts to circumvent the certificate program. Is that fair?

I know that the purchase of this certificate is seen as a no-brainer by
some, but that is not necessarily true, when you consider that all of the
other boats that are on the "potential purchase" list are either out of
production or in production, but without any pro-bono manufacturer support
(e.g. a Catalina for example). For me, it is not a *clearly* beneficial
purchase, especially when you consider that even when give the original
purchase price as a credit toward a new or recycled Rhodes, these boats are
still, and probably always will be, way outside my budget. A discount on
parts is good, but there are other ways to deal with that issue as well.
Especially when talking about the early versions of the Rhodes which I can
afford that have fewer specialized options (like the IMF system etc).

All that being said, I can certainly appreciate the reasons why you are
putting this program in place, and I also see that there is value there. I
am just not 100% convinced that there is enough value ***for me*** to refuse
to purchase a Rhodes from someone who does not have and is not willing to
get a certificate before selling the boat to me. This is made even more
true when my only other option may be to purchase a boat that is inferior
to the Rhodes 22.
