Orin,

You will find Rob's assesment partly true. If you have a camera and a problem, bring it to the list for a responsive and timely solution. Rob and the other skippers mostly know our stuff on this boat and don't ask for anything. Who was the prior owner and where will you trail the boat from? Look it over well and happy sailing!

>Ah, already faced the wrath of Stan. It's a bit of a sore subject with him, and you can't really blame him. He gets paid to sell boats, not give advice. That's what we do. And you get what you pay for.

>Charles is correct that the boat will most likely stay on the trailer on its own, but I believe most state laws require the boat to be attached to the trailer. And you really don't want to have to boat wander off on its own if you have to swerve or something. I use a 3 inch strap and wrap it over the gunnels and around under the trailer and tighten it up. Not too tight as some of those ratchets can really put some tension on the strap. My strap came with my boat, so I don't know if it's the best way to do it or not, but it works for me. I use something like:

>When I bought mine from Stan about 15 years ago, and went to NC to pick it up, the boat was only sitting on the trailer. There is a slid at the bow that can be extended to be tight against the boat, and allows to get the boat as tight to it as possible in the water, then when you drive out, the bow naturally shifts to be away from this brace. By sliding to be tight against the boat, it tends to hold the boat from vibrating during travel. That and having the mast, boom, etc well attached to the boat was all Stan did when he wished me well. I drove to Dallas that way and had no problems.
