Thanks for informing us of Davis's passing.

It was on this site that I first saw the Rhodes 22 in full flight, "full on by" on a video clip, and what a site it was!

My condolences to his family, and may the site continue to exist, and be the great help it has been to many many people.

Most of you have either visited or heard of the website
www.sailingtexas.com It is a treasure trove of sailboat and sailing
information and it offers
completely free sailboat ads to the public.  The originator and owner of the
site and a very good friend to me and the sailing world has passed.

David Luckenbach passed away on February 23th very peacefully after a year
long battle with cancer.  I met David 6 years ago after moving back to the
Central Texas area.  I had been out of sailing for a number of years and
wanted to get back in.  I thought I knew how to sail, but I really didn't.
David was an ASA certified sailing instructor and he gave me
a refresher course which I shall always remember.  The most knowledgeable
sailor I ever knew: in two days, we covered everything including flying the
spinnaker and it was one of the most enjoyable times that I have ever had on
the water.  He was always fun to be around-but wouldn't cut you any slack
when it came to sailing.  He was an artist and his greatest joy was
conveying his "art" to you. Over the years, we would continue to get
together and sail for fun; always looking for that little extra efficiency
on the tack or that extra bit of speed by trimming the sails just right.
That paid off last year when we won The Bridge Too Far race a distance,
endurance race on David's Flying Scot after crossing the starting line dead
last thanks to a tangled spinnaker.

Most every sailor in Central Texas knew David or knew of him and we are all
going to miss him.  His wife tells me his greatest hope was that
sailingtexas.com will continue.  If you haven't been there before, give it a
look.  There are some pictures and videos of my boat and there is a huge
sailboat picture gallery with specs cataloging about every other model of
sailboat you can think of.
