Geoff,

If you look around, you will see that most sailboats have white hulls. 
There is a reason for that.  I bought mine brand new from Stan in 1999
with a beautiful dark green hull.  I believe it's the first green one he
made.  I loved it.  It was beautiful.  I received a lot of positive
comments on it.  I waxed it every spring.  I put it in mid to late May and
pull it out late September to early October.  The rest of the time it is
protected inside my barn.  I live in Michigan, so the sun isn't nearly as
strong here as it is further south.  About four years ago I noticed that
the hull was starting to fade.  So, the color lasted about six or seven
years before that happened.  Not sure what, if anything, I could have done
differently to prevent that.  I've also tried various products to try to
restore it to no avail so far.  I'm afraid the only thing I can do is to
eventually have it painted.
