Joe, are you going to only be able to tie up on 
one side? or is there a piling separating the two 
boats? or do you mean that the neighbor is on the 
other side of the floating finger pier? Lots of 
possibilities which is why this becomes a complex 
question - every docking situation seems to be 
different. If you only tie up on one side, I 
suspect tight to the finger pier makes sense. 
While we really like floating docks, we have very 
little experience with them here on the 
Chesapeake. I think when we tied up at the Inner 
Harbor Marina in Baltimore, there were two boats 
to a slip with floating docks. In that case we 
tied up tight to the floating pier using the 
Taylor fenders we mentioned before. Spring lines 
were a must to keep the boat from moving with any 
wave action. Again check to see how others in your marina tie up.
