That makes a lot of sense and I probably have a filter on my 8hp 2009 Yamaha.  I am not very mechanically inclined an like with my car I rarely look under the hood.

Chris,
I've got just a simple lawn mower type fuel filter in my fuel line.  It came with the motor.  It's located inside the engine cover.  See if you might already have one. Note that if you replace one they have an arrow on them indicating fuel flow direction.  - rob

What type of in line filter do people like to use?  Is this a simple thing to attach to the hose that runs from the gas tank to the outboard?
