If water from the bilge is exiting there, it would be getting into the
balast first. When you are in the water are you in and out?, or in for a
extended time? If you stay in for an extended period, is there dampness in
your bilge that is otherwise not explained?
Last summer a program of resealing port windows and gasketing the
companionway door resulted in a bone dry bilge and an easy test for any new
leaks. I also had rebunked my trailer to get the keel up away from the axel
a bit further as sitting at rest it was quite close to touching and i
worried that it might bang the keel on a bump, causing cracking. there is
marine-tex in my boat at the top of the rear edge of the keel.
