David,
I have a 2003 that utilizes a 9.9 hp on an upper midwest fresh water lake.
I've been very pleased with the power and ease of use. It's a little heavy,
but, being a 4 stroke, is very quiet. I use very little gas to go in and
out of the boatlift slip.
Pat Devig.

Subject: [Rhodes22-list] Hp for motor

Hello,

I am soon to an owner of a recycled Rhodes in N. C. to be kept on the
coast.

I do need to purchase an outboard. The boat could take some longer runs
down the ICW under power.

I have read that 4-10hp is recommended. I am thinking 8 hp.

Thanks for any insight.
