[Rhodes22-list] Hp for motor

I've a 9.9 Merc which is way too heavy and unnecessary power. It has an
electric start but in cold weather the battery doesn't have enough juice and
I need to pull start it. It's not a big deal and I probably won't bother
with an electric start next time, however it is easier to pull start the
motor out of the water, which I've been told is a big no-no. I immediately
lower the motor into the water once it starts so I can't imagine that the
engine would overheat in the few seconds that it's out of the water. Am I
wrong?

My next motor will be a 6 or 8 hp. Weight will definitely play large in the
decision. For those of you with 6 hp, how fast can you go in calm water?

Thanks!
