[Rhodes22-list] Sailing from Orient Pt (NY) to N Myrtle Beach (SC)

This question is pretty much above my pay grade.  Anyone have any experience or words of wisdom for Ed?

  Supposed one was to sail a 28 foot blue water capable sailboat 
  from Orient Point, New York to North Myrtle Beach, South 
  Carolina, what would be the best way to go?

  The proposed craft is 30 years old and except for sails, is 
  generally in good condition.  Boat and sails were used several 
  times this past summer in winds up to 30.  

  Supposed the trip could between now and June, when would you go?

  How many would be needed to crew?

  What maps would be needed?
