[Rhodes22-list] keel CB issue

Hi Andrew,
I haven't heard of anyone removing the CB cap every year. If you lift
it off the trailer to bottom paint it would seem to me that doing the
CB itself and the lip of the trunk or as far as you can squeeze a
paintbrush would be sufficient until proven wrong.

Maybe you'll hear from somebody else in salt water (we're brackish -
more salt some years than others depending on how much rain the
Susquehanna basin gets). We are also a rather unique case as there is
a one inch fiberglass plate under our CB cap - glassed to the lip of
the trunk - I guess it was to fix something though we don't see any
sign of damage. However, while we can see the CB, we couldn't take
the CB out without a Sawzall. We didn't even paint the CB except the
little you could see with it lifted slightly off the trailer for
painting for the first 10 years we owned the boat. Then 3 years ago
when we had the marina put it in the travelift and paint the CB for
the first time. That was 10 years including some high growth, high
barnacle years. In high growth years we've sometimes had troubles
with the CB but it always seems to be growth on the edge of the trunk.
