Thank you for the info. Now I am wondering if the fresh water flow through
the harbor where the boat is moored isn't more important than the brand of
bottom coat. There is a large stream that feeds into it. Sounds like a
science project to monitor precipitation vs growth.

The affected area looks deteriorated but I know of no impact damage. It
looks old and as if it had been covered up with paint for a long time and
then a bad repair popped out or split open. I will clean this out with a
tool  and see what the condition of the fiberglass in around the area is. If
it gets any larger than what is now visible I'll get some glass and resin
get more serious. Too bad about the delay, I'll just have to go fishing more
with the dinghy.
