I must be the luckiest person in the world.

First a dirtbag pulls a u-turn in front of me while I'm going about 60 mph
on my motorcycle. Hit-and-run. Solid witnesses. Got his plates. Guy's
rap sheet is two pages long of alcohol related violence and driving, but
remarkably he has (had) insurance. Over $4,000 damage to my bike and not a
scratch on me. Lots of thank-you prayers after that one.

I'm driving my son's 18-year old car far from home and the radiator breaks.
Car is overheating but luckily I'm able to limp to a nearby service shop
without blowing a head gasket. Never heard of the place. Walk in and the
manager is my mechanic. Had no idea he just started working there.

Taking my wife's truck in for a major scheduled maintenance and one of the
stability bars breaks and starts dragging on the ground. Sparks are a
flying but I make it to the shop without incident. Probably wouldn't have
blown up but still feeling lucky.

Finally find the time to go sailing today and my motor stops just as I pass
the marina office. Am able to skull around all the traffic and wedge in
between two yachts fueling-up and pumping-out. Part of the fuel line is
completely torn apart (I blame everything on ethanol). Quick trip to West
Marine for parts and the outboard is back in good order. Sooooo lucky the
breakdown didn't happen out in the middle of the bay after mass quantities
of alcohol.

It's been a good week. If I get any luckier I'm heading to Atlantic City!
