[Rhodes22-list] On Dry Land

Hi All:

This weekend, I will pull my boat out of the pristine waters of Kerr Lake in North Carolina and drag it up to Suburban Philadelphia, where it will spend its winter on the trailer in a cold impersonal storage facility. She goes into the upper Chesapeake next spring.  I will spend some of the winter making additions to her and wanted to get some advice and pointers from those who have the most experience.  I'm adding a VHF radio and antenna (on the mast) as well as a compass on the bulkhead next to the companionway.  Here are my questions:

1.  What's the best route for the coax from the mast area, under the deck, back to a mounting spot near the breaker board ?  How do I access that space?  I think there is dead space between the deck and the interior ceiling.  Give me a step by step, if you can.

2.  On the compass, what's the diference in difficulty between installation of one mounted externally to the bulkhead as opposed to one that mounts (more or less) flush with the surface?

I suppose that's it.  I'll sail tomorrow (85 degrees with 6 mph winds), and Saturday (94 degrees with 8 - 11 mph) as my farewell excursions.  Keep me in your thoughts. (Rummy, drain a few for me)
