Rob,
You experienced what I did. I notice the fraying at the cleat on the gin poll pulley itself.
Short Term:
- I cut a foot of the frayed off the end & reattached to pulley.
-I have another misc. line tied to gin pole, running through fwd cleat as a backup. Crank with R-hand, L-hand on back up line.
Thought is a (belt & suspenders approach).
Bob

Bob,
I have not yet, but will. I think mine is a 3/8 inch frayed cotton line. I just used it for the first time this year. I had not checked it prior to using it and it scared the crap out of me when I used it. I swore is was going to break have way up during the hoist and I vowed right them to replace it with something sturdier. I'll probably use nylon. - rob

On the MSS there is a "line" from bow cleat to crank atop the Gin pole.
Has anyone upgraded this "line" to something else? (cable, strap, another line)?
TIA,
Bob
