[Rhodes22-list] Hello from new r22 owner in midwest

I am really enjoying the conversation and have a question on the mast
raising system. Is the boom used from the bow to partly raise the boom to
the height of the boom and then the main sheet hauls the mast the rest of
the way up. Are the stays all in place and is it necessary to have someone
on each stay to steady the mast? I have the 1976 that I am rebuilding in
Maine. I have not seen a Rhodes rigged except on the site and I have not
personally rigged a sailboat like this so I am anxious to get the interior
rebuild and get the compression bulkhead and post in so I can get the boat
sailing this year.

Sincerely,

Dennis Frappier

I trailer launch and have to raise the mast each time. I made a mast raising
system using the boom as a gin pole and the mainsheet as the muscle.
Our Rhodes is also a '77,(AKA Continental,) it has boom roller reefing for
the main.
