Peter,

If you look at the PT sliding hatch underside there is a hollow stiffener rib, port to stbd side. Carefully position a 1" tang between this rib, thru a horizontally cut slot in the companionway "door", and secure on the outside with a combo lock, inside with a heavy screw or bolt fixed onto the rib.  You still will need a tiedown to prevent lifting the top.
