[Rhodes22-list] Cabin Wench

My first (and only) mate has also permitted me to hold the title of Captain
on our Rhodes for more than 30 years.  As galley wench she has always been
in charge of all libations and sustenance, permitting me to be the Master of
the Craft.  As Captain, I am always blamed for failure to make port as
schedule and any other mishaps.

Of course, her title is the Admiral.  42 years and I wouldn't change a
thing, well, just a minute, I'll ask the Admiral.

The one thing that I love about sailing is that it is the only time that I
am in charge without question.  On the boat, what I say goes.  Even though
my wife kept her maiden name (yes she is one of those) and is a devout
liberated woman, she allows me to refer to her as the galley wench and
serves drinks & hor'doerves on command without argument.  She even cleans up
afterward.

Isn't sailing the best fun?
