I use Micron Extra. Below is my communication with Interlux.

Hi. I am ordering a new General Boats Rhodes 22 fiberglass sailboat. The
builder will be putting on an epoxy barrier coat followed by an antifouling
paint.

The boat will be in the water (Florida Panhandle/Gulf of Mexico) and stored
on land on a trailer according to the following schedule:

January through April the boat will be in a wet slip
May through August the boat will be stored on land (trailer)
September through October it will be in a wet slip
November through December it will be stored on land (trailer)

1. Can you recommend your best antifouling paint for this type of use?
2. Based on your recommendation above, which of your barrier coats would be
best?

Thanks very much. Geoff

Hi Geoff,
Based off the location of the boat as well as the use of the boat I would
recommend applying Micron 66 as your antifouling paint and InterProtect
2000E as your barrier coat. InterProtect 2000E provides all around barrier
coat protection and with this boat being a brand new boat there is no need
for the higher build InterProtect 3000. I have attached a copy of our
InterProtect Bulletin for your reference. The Micron 66 was the chosen
paint as it performs extremely well in warm and high fouling waters. Micron
66 remains effective whether the boat is on a trailer or in the water.
Micron 66 is constantly polishing away which means it is getting smoother
and releasing biocides at a great rate. Based off the information which you
have provided I am going to assume that the boat will always be in salt
water no fresh or brackish waters or on the hard and if this is the case
then Micron 66 all the way. However if you were to be in brackish or fresh
waters at times then Micron Extra would be the better choice as the Micron
66 needs to be in salt water always. Micron Extra is also a polishing paint
but will not wear as frequently as the 66 and works in all waters. I have
attached product datasheets on both Micron 66 and Micron Extra for your
reference. Hope this helps!

Regards,
Jay
