How about the centerboard?  It has been the most reliable depth sounder I have ever owned, although I did finally get a Hummingbird and mounted the puck in toilet wax seal in the bottom of the laz so I could see what fish were swimming under me.

I mounted mine - a Garmin combination chart plotter and depth finder - with
a shoot-through-the-hull transducer in the lazerete.  Wired it so it can be
mounted on a swivel arm off the stern rail, visible from either captain's
chair.

Pictures posted earlier - can probably find them in the archive.
