[Rhodes22-list] Traveling with motor mounted.

I have towed my boat for literally thousands of miles and have never taken the motor off and have never had any issues. I do tie a rope around the motor and tie it off so that the weight of the motor is not completely on the motor lift. The motor cover is another story. I have lost two motor covers somewhere along the interstate. The wind seems to catch them and pull them right off if you don't tie them down well.

Interestingly, I usually take the rudder off if I am going on a long trip. Why? I dunno other than it's a lot easier to remove than the motor. The more I think about it, the more I think I'll just leave it on next trip.

Comments on trailer sway should be heeded.

Subject: [Rhodes22-list] Traveling with motor mounted.

I had a guy tell me never to pull my boat with the out board still mounted to
my boat. It would rip the mount off during the drive. I only have to go
about 10 miles to the nearest ramp. Is it really nessesary for me to unmount
the motor everytime I take my boat to the ramp?
