[Rhodes22-list] HOW DO YOU SAIL SINGLEHANDED?

I have the raymarine tiller pilot and find it an essential extra set of hands when sailing 8 hrs or more across the Chesapeake Bay for an overnight trip. Out on the Bay anything over 10 knts tends to come with a decent amount of chop and by that point I have my 175 reefed in and start to lower the main or reef the main with the pop top down. This has been an off year for me with graduations, weddings, travel etc... my boat has been in Edenton since last October and will probably stay until spring 2015 but she comes back home to DC with a 130 to replace the 175 and a trailer. Maybe with the kids out of the house I will get to trailer back up to Oyster Bay NY and Charlevoix Michigan.

Bruce,

Raymarine makes what they call a tiller pilot. It attaches to the starboard gunwale and the underside of the tiller. It steers by compass setting. I have a remote control that lets me steer from anywhere on the boat.
