I'm a newbie too and loving the Rhodes. Sailing around Deltaville you'll find
plenty of wind. In fact, you may want to invest in a 130 jib. I'm about 125
miles north and when checking wind it always seems to be blowing harder down
south.

You might consider biting the bullet and buying a proper trailer. Shop
around - you've got months.

1) It'll be a lot cheaper to get a truck to pull a boat on its trailer. I
investigated renting a U-Haul pickup to go 250 miles to pick up a boat (and
return) on a trailer it was around $300. Of course gas costs too.
2) For as long as you own the boat, having a trailer will let you pull and
store it on trailer is much cheaper than a lift and such - save you hundreds
of dollars every year.
3) If you ever want to sell, it'll be a lot easier to sell.

Add up all the money saved over the years and I think you'll find the
trailer is very cost competitive.
