[Rhodes22-list] Bowsprit broken...fix?

Ted,

On my bow rail, the head of the bolt is welded to a thin piece of metal.  That assembly is tacked into place with some spots of weld.  Is it possible that what you see as plastic is a spacer?  I understand that Stan has used some spacers in place of cauking on some newer bow rails.

In any event, I think you are on the right track by removing the rail.  Again, a metal fabricator that can weld stainless can get you fixed up.  Then it's just a simple process of reinstalling it.  Let me know if you have a problem finding a shop to repair your rail.  I have a brother in N. Weymouth who may know of someone.

So I am at the boat. It's defiantly not welded. It appears that the screw is held in the railing with a sealant of some type. 

How do I fix it back into place so it can be screwed back into the deck. 

I removed the screw by climbing in the v birth and unscrewing the nut. 

Any advice?
