Peter,

Can you provide some examples? I would like to attempt to track them down to determine the reasons and how we can solve the problem.

Subject: [Rhodes22-list] A Note About Attachments and Nabble

Over the past few months, I’ve spent many, many hours making my way through the list archives. This means lots of reading, of course, but sometimes it also means clicking on a link in an attempt to view a picture or other attached document. Sometimes this works, and sometimes unfortunately it does’t. And almost always when it doesn’t work it’s because the attachment lives at nabble.com rather than rhodes22.org <http://rhodes22.org/>.

I assume that attachments end up on nabble.com if you use the Nabble interface to post, and if you use your email client application and add an attachment, it ends up on rhodes22.org <http://rhodes22.org/>. But I’ve never posted an attachment, so I can’t really be sure.

The problem with Nabble is that they have on at least one occasion reorganized their archives, breaking the links to prior attachments. Even if you track down the post inside Nabble, and click on the link for the attachment, it still doesn’t work.

Maybe Nabble will never do this bad thing again, and all of our attachments will remain available forever. Or maybe they’ll do it tomorrow. Personally, I’d like to put as few eggs as possible in Nabble’s basket.
