Bob:

I think you have me confused with someone else as I have never made plans to take my boat to Florida - although the idea appeals.

Graham: Have you made it to Florida as yet? I'll be on the west coast (boat less) for a wedding reception tomorrow (Friday) but free on Saturday if you are in the Tampa area. You seem to know your way around better than most but I can relate how we did the run from Punta Gorda, south of Tampa, down through the Keys and then back up the east coast to Stuart. If the damage goes deep, you might also need to use a filler before finishing with gelcoat. You don't want the gel coat to be too thick. Just be sure that the filler is polyester and not epoxy as the gelcoat may not adhere to the epoxy.

Get a standard Gelcoat repair kit preferably one with color match. The gelcoat that starts white yellows a bit with time and grime.
