[Rhodes22-list] My First Hello

I am one of those strange ducks who actually enjoy the rebuild process -
although I would like to see the end product before I am too old to actually
use the boat. I am seriously wondering whether the rebuild will outlive me
and that is depressing to think about. Still my advice is not to get into a
serious rebuild unless you really enjoy the process. If you just want a boat
to sail, a project boat will probably defeat you both emotionally and
financially. You really have to love the challenge.

Indeed, I was thinking of project boats such as yours or Lou's "Miracles"
when I was cautioning Steve.  Since Steve is located in Florida, as opposed
to a northern climate in which we are forced to work on our projects in a
few short months, and has large amounts time, he may be able to cut the
rebuild time considerably from your estimate.  Then again, as much as I
enjoy the rebuilding process, I find that sailing is really what I like to
do the most.  Difficult project boats are for youngsters.  I'm going
sailing.

Mike's description of what to look out for in old Rhodes makes me think he
must have seen my boat as it is the perfect description of what can go
wrong. My boat had all of those issues and then some. Mind you, nothing that
five or six years of work can't fix.
