Joe:

Thanks for your input. I suppose I could also move the metal bar a 1/2" and drill two new holes.

Hi Chris:
I've been following this thread for a while.  I believe this piece has two holes in it through which run the 1/4 inch lines to the forward side of the rudder... right?  I agree that the lines will perform their function without it there.  HOWEVER, Stan put it there for a good reason.  These lines may tend to tangle without the piece there, or chafe .  You might look at the possibility of screwing through the side of the rudder's housing, but not so deeply as to go into the holes through which the lines feed.

OK, now I feel like part of the community again.  Tally ho!

The top of the screw is buried below the face of the plastic.  I am not sure what function this part serves?  I thought maybe it stops the rudder or contains the red rudder lines but both seem to function without it.

Can you use an "easy out" to remove the broken screw?

The metal bar holding the rudder lid line in place came undone.  One of the screws sheared  of inside the thin plastic area.  I don't know how to drill the old screw out and worry I would damage the plastic.  I can get one screw back in.  Would a U shape bracket from nut to nut work?  Any ideas are appreciated.  I will include photos that are usually at the end of the message.
