Lark is a 2002 boat. The stringers are fiberglass. I pulled the step out
because birds had plugged my centerboard pennant tube with grass from a
failed nest that turned into black goo. The seats were draining into the
cabin step and filling my bilge. A plumbers snake would go right through
the slime but not remove it. Raising and lowering the centerboard didn’t
help either. I needed access to pull the tube and clean it out. I think
it was leaking around the hose clamp.

I also pulled part of the sole out, the port side went under the settee and
the starboard under the galley, The center could be removed independently
to access the centerboard. This is the advantage of a builder that refits
his boats. Thanks Stan.

I didn’t remember a tape measure like Charles, but used a key as reference
for size.
