[Rhodes22-list] Revisiting Deploying Anchor from Cockpit

Rick and Roger,

After looking at more photos of Rhodes 22, I see where some have a device
which allows the shank to attach to the bow for a three point attachment of
the anchor. I can certainly see where this would be more secure. 

I think I will be able to do a secure three point attachment and still use
my release system. When I pull my release line, it first unlocks a latch on
the starboard bracket and then pulls the starboard stock out of that bracket
tilting the anchor and thus tilting the shank to starboard. If I mount a
bracket on the bow which would not allow the shank to move forward but would
let it move outboard to starboard the sequence on the anchor deployment when
pulling the release line would be:
1. Releasing the latch on the starboard pulpit bracket
2. Pulling up on the starboard stock and tilting the anchor(the port stock
is still in its bracket)
3. The shank would tilt out of the bow bracket and swing to vertical
4. Letting go of the release line would allow the anchor to fall and slide
out of the port pulpit bracket and be deployed

I’m still trying to come up with a good way to safely stow the chain and
short rode. 

I know I’m going to a lot of trouble devising a way to deploy my anchor from
the cockpit. I want this capability because I’m so new at sailing and
because there have been three occasions where I screwed up close to shore
and docks and by shear luck recovered without mishap. I would like to be
able to quickly deploy the anchor and have a little time to come up with a
plan other than luck. 

Do you guys think this might work?
