[Rhodes22-list] Electrical conduit

Hi Peter,

On my boat, there are wooden bulkheads at the front and rear of the cockpit sole. These bulkheads seal off the cabin and lazerette compartment from the foam under the cockpit sole. How are you going to cut thru them? Also, after you cut the holes, how are you going to seal around them so that water in the cabin or lazerette compartment doesn’t seep thru?

On my boat, there is a wooden strip of wood covering the hull/deck joint in the cockpit. I have run cables from the cabin to the lazerette compartment by using cable hangers and zip ties with outdoor/ burial rated cables. But, there is no reason you couldn’t run a conduit.

>> Hi all, I’m looking to run an electrical conduit between the cabin and lazeret. I’m hoping to run a 3/4 inch PVC pipe between the floatation foam and the cockpit sole. As there is little room to work with, my plan (such as it is) is to cut some “teeth” in the leading edge of the PVC and try to trim away enough foam to allow the pipe to make the run. I’m looking for opinions about whether this seems like a good plan, or if anyone has any reasons why I should reconsider. As always, thanks for your thoughts. BTW happy new year!
