hi jay
let me comment and qualify my comments on doyle offshore...first, when i told
stan i wanted the sail he told me to take care of it myself...i have no idea
if that was stans decision not to get involved in it or doyle offshores
decision not to get involved in it...
second, the quality problem i have with doyle offshore is on a non standard
sail..im sure many of you are happy with the standard 175...but i wanted a
biradial 150 with a nonstandard fabric...unfortunately, i did not get enough
sailing time in this season to really get specific about whats wrong with the
way she flys, but its not right..also the stitching is not straight which
bugs me everytime i look at it...it runs along the foot...
lastly keep in mind that the sails design is based on certain measurements
which may differ by boat...for example..if you use the internal sheeve in the
mast with a halyard restrainer you will get a different luff measurement than
if you just install a block at the masthead....these differences may be
inches and i have no idea if that makes a difference in sail shape or size,
also where you place your sheet blocks matters in the measurement.....again
im not sure if the sheet track on my boat is the same on all boats and if its
not the same whether that measurement affects the cut of the sail
hope this helps
best
tom
