Yeah, I have a grundgy masthead.  I can see where the cable braid might
wick moisture.  I use the stuff all the time, although always indoors.
As long as there is decent continuity in the cable and I can make
a proper ground connection I think that a bit of deterioration in
the cable braid is not a big problem unless it extends more then ~10
cm into the cable body or interrupts continuity.  My work list is long
enough this spring.

Anyway I mostly use my handheld.
