Slim,

The statistic is:

"People with guns in their homes are more likely to kill a family member than an intruder."

CT,

"... a place where gun control is the rule of law and only the bad guys have
 guns?"

And where would that be? Approximately half of US households have firearms.
Mine included. Does that make me a bad guy? Think for a moment like a good
guy. I sometimes worry that I might some day be confronted by an intruder
in my home--succumbing to the design of the fear mongers. But in practice,
my guns are just for sport, like a Canadian. I've heard a lot of theories,
but I've never seen any statistics that indicate how often intruders are
gunned down by the homeowner. In fact, I've only heard of that happening
once in my community, Minneapolis, where we had about 60 gun deaths in 2003.
Like most large urban areas, they're mostly gang related--in other words,
drugs, greed, anger, desperation and fear. Shouldn't we call these American
values? They're certainly quite prevalent.

Slim
