The one think that keeps sticking in my mind is an augment that go like this:

1)ex-girlfriend/ ex wife (could be anyone). calls the cops. worried, someone out to "get them". No "proof".
2)calls and calls the cops for protection, they will be told be told we will keep and extra eye out, maybe gets a order of
protection if they lie in court.
3)shit happens and you read about it in the "post", A great American news paper BTW :-)
4)The family goes to the cops and ask(sues) over this, "she called you 10 times with warnings and looks what happened....."
5)Now the Cops drop the BS of how great they are and give the official answer and it goes something like this" Our job is to adrest
people for breaking laws, not to be bodygrurds or to prevent crimes or even save lives". Now granted, they try to but it is not a
requirment or an obgiation, they obgaiation is to clean up afterwards.

Don't do it the way Sir Peter Blake did it.  When pirates boarded his boat anchored at the mouth of the Amazon he went for his gun,
and they killed him.  The other 9 crew members lived.  The pirates took some watches and a dinghy.

What possession could you possibly have on a 22 foot Rhodes sailboat that is worth your life?

As I read this tripe, Roger says he needs his gun to protect himself from his own government; Rik needs his because he lives in a
bad neighborhood; now you seem to fancy yourself as a middle aged female defender of the high seas.

What's wrong with you?

I can make a case for gun ownership, but you are making a very strong case against it.

I would like to turn this conversation to ways and means of storing and
using guns while cruising. We hope to do that extensively in the future.
