[Rhodes22-list] R22 questions - lightning and locking.

Oops, When I asked the "capacity plate" question, I didn't mean it to turn into such a huge issue. It does seem that a plate is required in Canada, but not in the US.

Now for a couple more questions:

1) We are having quite a few thunder/lightning storms here now. Is there anything I should specifically do about "grounding" the mast? (Other than not sailing during a storm). Is it grounded?

2) I locked my R22 with the key lock each time I leave it in the marina. Sure enough, yesterday I forgot my key and only remembered when I got there. When I got to the boat, I found that all I have to do to get in is to lift the pop top and I can get into the boat! The back slides straight up. What am I missing here? Should it secure down better or should I get another locking system?

I am getting out often now as it has warmed up nicely and am really enjoying my R22.
