[Rhodes22-list] R22 questions - lightning and locking.

Mark,

Some pop tops lock down less well than others. Mine did not lock down well.
I bought a kit from Stan to secure the pop top down. It consists of an
ingenious clip for the horizontal bar across the top of the pop top, a line,
and a clam cleat that mounts to the fwd slanted surface below the step in
the cabin. When clipped to the tube and cleated, the line keeps the top
from lifting.

I forget the price, but thought it worthwhile at the time. It is listed on
the web site, I think. You could always improvise something similar for
less, sacrificing some convenience.

Mark,

The telescoping poptop brace should lock in the down position. Its just a
different pair of holes than the holes for the up position.

On my boat, the slide lock wasn't tight enough, so I screwed a little metal
plate over the molded pad that is supposed to block the lock pin in the
closed position.

Sure enough, yesterday I forgot my key and only remembered when I got there.
When I got to the boat, I found that all I have to do to get in is to lift
the pop top and I can get into the boat! The back slides straight up. What
am I missing here? Should it secure down better or should I get another
locking system?
