Lou,

I did not rebuild the trunk. I had to do some repairs to the cap, and I did not have the location of the centerboard pivot on the centerboard. I got a new cb from Stan, but it did not have a pivot hole. Stan said that he did not have the drawings for my boat’s centerboard, and that he just had the mold. My boat is a 1975 and it was not built by Stan.

I got some drawings with dimensions of the cb from Todd Tavares, and built a mock centerboard out of plywood just to make sure that the cb would pivot and had enough clearance on both ends.

I ended up moving the hole about 1 1/2“ back from the location in the drawings in order to move the cb forward.

I could not imagine having to rebuild the trunk. All I did with it was sand it and paint it. I also built a gasket for the lid using ¼” neoprene.

I’ll take some pictures pretty soon. I’m sorry I did not take any pictures of the work progress.

Luis,

I know your pain with the centerboard trunk as I have mine ripped
open and getting ready for a few major patches with garolite and
epoxy.
Q#1: did you end up using heavy power tools to rip away the
existing trunk or did you find it destroyed already?
Q#2: after you received the dimensions of the trunk and its pivot
slot, did you build it (the entire trunk) outside the boat or
choose to build it right inside the boat ?
love to see some pictures of how it came out and congratulations on
launching her so fast!
Lou
