Peter:
From Greenville, SC to Oriental, NC is at least an 8 hour drive,
maybe more, and that is not towing. The faster way there from here is thru
Charlotte, Greensboro, your Raleigh and over to Oriental
www.pamlico-nc.com/photosbyair/7otown1.htm .
The other way would be down I-26 to Columbia, to Florence and up 95
to cut over point. Neither is a direct shot. There is no direct shot with
good roads.
Your idea is a good one. Is this the place that you are
recommending: www.boonedocksmarina.com/.
However, if I am going to tow my that kind of distance, I am more
inclined to go to Beaufort, shorter distance, but not less time since you
cut across the major roads.
I get to Beaufort, NC by going to Columbia, SC, then Florence to
I-95 then to Fayetteville, NC then secondary roads such as NC 41. I was
interested in Bill's trip to that area, but he came the northern route ( I
presume).
For those who have not been to Silver Lake, it is a destination
place. Just what Bob Weber was looking for. In the last few years there
have been motels built on the shore.
