Thanks Roger, very thorough, as usual.

Truthfully, I had no interest in the Flook anchor. I looked at that and 
had pretty much the same thoughts as you.

My main interest was in the article on the effect of the various 
configurations of rode on the holding power of an anchor. I thought that 
was pretty well thought out and your calculations seem to confirm that.

As I recall, the original question and the reason I posted the link, 
was, how much chain should be included in an achor rode, or something 
like that. I don't exactly remember right now. But, that is why I posted 
the link directly to the anchoring paper rather than to the Flook anchor 
home page.
