Thanks for the warm welcome.

Scott, Though I'm in FL now, I'm from MASS originally and my Dad was even a
lobsterman (before I was born) We still ate tons because He still knew
people. - No lower port holes and no signs of hole uder aft hull.

Rummy, I had already replaced the pulleys with some temps but with no
mechanical advantage just a zig zag to get to the tube. I saw an image on
rhodes22.org showing the block n tackle system but something didn't look
right. looked like the tube was at the aft end of the swing keel trunk - at
least by the angle on the aft part of shoal draft part of the keel. Didn't
really have a cap til I made one. Looked like someone sawed the top of the
trunk off. had some peices of pvc as pulleys. didn't work to well. From what
I've read the oldies didn't have a cap - just a sealed up trunk. Last boat I
owned had a pull out centerboard so I really didn't think much about the
open topped trunk til I was out in 20kts and the lake got choppy. Had a foot
of water in the cabin by the time we got back. I'm at least going to the
bouble backstays one of these days.

Ed K, has a rub rail but rubbers were missing in sections so I pulled them
out temporarily because it looks better than patchy. I've got a brochure
from Taco Metals so I should be able to find the right filler bead to
replace it. You're right about the trunk cap. I have one now. Set my Wife
back in Her comfort level of being on boat that day. It does have a number
on the starboard transom. It starts with NJZ which would make it homebuilt
except that they didn't require numbers on them back then. I'm thinking at
some point it was assigned that number by New Jersey or the company that
made the hulls before GB was just that small and didn't go through the steps
with USCG to be able to assign them. Especially since it wasn't required.
Don't know for sure.

What I lack the most is a pop top. I have a temp made that covers it but
doesn't pop and is not real pretty. Also it seems like the V berths are
shorter on the newer ones from looking at the top view on GB site.

Hope I don't have a counterfeit

Once again Thanks for reading this.
