Mary Lou,

Not to fret.  What is the distance of "three doors
down"?  I tried to send our wireless to our neighbors
and got frustrated by the trees that cut the signal.
We ran 400' of cat 5 cable underground.  Perfect! 
Four hundred is supposed to be the limit but you can
go at least twice the distance with no problem. 
Introduce yourselves to the neighbor that has DSL and
offer to split the cost of the service. At my other
house we have a directional antenna that 'borrows' the
signal from the U of M. BTW, you don't know me or
where I live.
