[Rhodes22-list] Minnesota Disaster

Elle,

Damnit! I'm trying to head out the door for the hangar. The exact opposite
has happened on the MS Gulf Coast. The Feds have provided the money and the
locals the authority. It is a bit like winning the lottery - great if you
were good with money to begin with, a curse if you don't have a clue. I have
zero direct experience with NOLA, but, enough vicarious experience to know
we don't belong there. If you really want to see progress on the coast,
have the Federal government make an announcement that they're pulling out,
period. People will fend for themselves and the opportunists will provide
the needed services for 10 cents on the dollar of what the Feds will spend
The locals will bitch about having to pay the dime anyway. I say we let the
environmentalists solve the NOLA problem. There goes the levees!
