Michael T:

You said that, "I have requested a quote from Stan and waiting." When you
are dealing with General Boats of Edenton, North Carolina, home of the
Rhodes 22 you need to study the archives. Stan is in his 80's and his
secretary says she is older… When he gets written questions, at least there
is a hard copy. If you send an email, well understand, that sometimes his
computer works and then there are other times. If you call early in the
working day and ask to talk to Stan, Rose will say that she will get Stan,
understand that you are interrupting him from working on somebody's boat.
He has posted a request which can be found in the archives that calls should
be made late in the day or to his home. (See if you can find that info)

Stan is General Boats, all 80+ years of him. There is no #2, because there
is little money made in making sailboats. After he pays his few workers the
legally required pay for hours worked, there are no big bucks that an MBA
would want. Could that by why his sons have paying jobs.

Art asked if you are getting the battened main sail. Understand that the
design and measurement of the battened mainsail are proprietary. That means
it is Stan’s intellectual property. There are those who would steal that
knowledge without qualm, and as demonstrated, even on this forum.

Why does Stan do what he does? Here is a quote from another famous small
boat builder: "Sailing and boats have been a great way of life, not easy
and not very remunerative, but very rewarding." George O'Day

Do you have a heated garage to work on your boat in?

come true. You may have to work for it however." Skip Gundlach
