David,
The only real trick is to make sure you have sufficient wraps around the  
furling drum when you put it back together so you can furl the entire sail.  
Checking it in the horizontal position is easier than doing it with the mast up.  
Taking pictures and keeping the hardware/screws in one place and mapping it 
out  as to what goes where is helpful.
