Herb,

Religion isn't my thing, even though one of my good friends and frequent
dinner companions is a pastor. That said, I have nothing but praise for the
thousands of church groups who have contributed time, money, and material to
the Katrina recovery. Their achievements have far surpassed any made by the
governments for timeliness and effectiveness. Now as to stealing someone
else's worldly goods and redistributing it, I plead guilty. My best friend
of 30 plus years bought a flooded house in Gulfport. We used his yard as a
spot to park our campers and equipment for over six months. We also
cleaned-up the neighborhood of debris, including several pallets of lumber
that washed ashore from the docks. My buddy considered it his lumber - I
saw it as 'community' lumber. Some Mennonites were in the neighborhood
patching-up houses and asked if they could have some of our roof decking.
"Sure", I jumped on a skid-steer and delivered it to them. When my buddy
found out he was major pissed and didn't speak to me for months. Oh well.
