Hi Paul, So far after about 3 outings, one being a week long, we have not had a problem with our pop-top falling. Ours is a 2000 boat that was just recycled. I always tug on the thing after putting it up to ensure it is locked in place. That's not to say it couldn't work itself loose. I'll be curious to know what you figure out. Joe
