And this I can say with certainty is quite true.....and this baby floats well with 6" of water in the cockpit..
(DO remember to remove the plug when returning from a sail...esp when days of heavy thunderstorms are predicted...;^)

   Joe,

I wish you well on this.  You might do a colored water test from the
cockpit sole, with some combo fluid, maybe plain water.  Hell, no harm
done if you fill the cockpit well, like a tub  - you will see results
more quickly and with confidence.  Like, isolating the variables.  You
could plug the drain and just watch for the results within the opened
laz.  If plugged, the cockpit floor should hold water.

Water could also enter thru the centerboard penant port.  Not to beat
a dead horse,  do you have the large seat drain thru-hulls and hose?
If you go to Edenton you will want to have discovered the source of
   leakage with certainty.

If no leak with the tub test, reverse the plug, putting it in from the
boat bottom.  Refill the cockpit well and watch.

Really interested in helping you resolve this.  There are not that
many possibilities.  If you never find the source, you will at least
determine what is NOT the source.

   Hi Art,
I'm in contact with Stan.  I'm still hoping I can resolve the problem
reasonably.  We are located in Knoxville, TN.
I'm not a football fan, by the way.

   Joe,
Cover your ears, prepare for a blast!  What was the outcome of the dye
test?  Maybe a long experienced skipper can come to the boat to
validate the problem.  If a serious problem maybe someone from GB,
even Stan, can travel.  Not to fuel a potential fire,  I have been in
touch with a recent recycle buyer who had a major snafu day on the
very day he picked up his boat.  It was bad.  Support for your dilema
must be clear in a 'warranty' as described by Stan.
   Remind me where you locate?
