John,

Learning to read the water to see the gusts coming would really give her confidence...(practice standing at the dock at first so she can get the idea..)...not only is it a new skill, but one she can use to help her comfort level...is she comfortable at the tiller? Easing upwind at the puff (watching the water to see it approach) & then falling off slightly will teach another skill and boost her 'control' level...

>It's a lot to absorb when you're nerves are already jangly.

Very true...if she has a task to focus on she may feel more in control & less 'jangly'....or put 'something' in her Coke & then maybe she just won't care...haha

elle

We can't change the angle of the wind....but we can adjust our sails.
